As people arrive they will make their way to the registration desk, where their badges will be laid out for collection. Attendees usually receive a pile of bumpf (brochure, any giveaways) aswell as their badge and lanyard.
NB: I used to work for Australians, which means I will occasionally refer to this bit as “rego” (pronounced redjo)

Shots here should involve the staff handing over the attendees badge/lanyard/bumpf with a big smile and lots of eye contact. (2/3 ain’t bad…)
As usual, bonus points for smiles and event branding.
If the event is huge, this is your first opportunity to point out that it is huge.
Remember:
A queue at registration says the event is well attended, a queue at lunch says the event is under staffed!

Teensy bit too much dead space in this one, but you get the idea – try the shot from behind the reg desk.
If the lanyards are sponsored, a shot showing their branding is appreciated…(even better if it’s in action, tho…)
